I was driving past an auto body shop in my area when I spotted this poor unfortunate 1997 Maxima. The car had been in a collision with the back of a truck and was declared a total loss by the insurance company. The unibody had buckled all the way to the rear, and the car was sitting outside, both airbags deployed, waiting for a flatbed to take it away. What was encouraging was the excellent condition of the passenger compartment and how the forward crumple zone totally worked the way it was designed to. I hope my Maxima never ends up looking like this, but if it does it's nice to know I have a good chance of walking away alive.
